Original vs. Compatible vs. Remanufactured/Refills
If you're confused as to what these terms mean with regard to ink and toner cartridges, or are just eunsure which to choose, let Bee Business Supplies lay it all out for you.
Genuine OEM Toner
Genuine OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridges are manufactured by maker of the printer they are being used for.
HP make toners and cartridges for HP printers, specifically for the model of printer. Canon do the same. As do all the others.
Compatible Toner Cartridges
Compatible toner cartridges are made by third party manufacturers for specific printer makes and models. They essentially replicate the OEM toners and cartridges without infringing on any patents - so they'll be close, but 100% replicas.
Remanufactured/Refill Toner Cartridges
'Remans' and refill cartridges are simnply used toner asnd ink cartridges that have been cleaned, repaired and refilled ready for a second (or third or fourth...) use.
There are a lot of companies that do this, reducing waste, helping the environment and cutting costs.
Great. But which should I choose?
This will very much depend on what you need in terms of price, quality of print and page yield.
Original cartridges come at a pretty high cost but they do guarantee the very best in print quality and will generally give you the most pages per cartridge.
Compatible cartridges are significantly cheaper and while they may produce slightly less in terms of print quality it is unlikely to be noticable unless you definitely require the highest standards. And in terms of page yield...they won't be that much different.
Remanufactured/refill toners and cartridges are typically the cheapest option, offering superb value for money for those who don't require a particularly high print quality. Indeed, these will provide the least print quality so should only be chosen for everyday printing of unimportant documents.
In terms of page yields, refills and remans can vary quite a lot, which in come cases can mean they are not always the best value for money.
